Sarah is dedicated to fostering sustainable communities through strategic vision and collaborative action. With a career spanning food and environmental justice advocacy, arts administration, and fundraising, Sarah brings an interdisciplinary perspective to organizational leadership.

Iyeshima Harris-Ouedraogo
Director of Programs
Iyeshima began her food justice journey over 10 years ago as a Youth Tiller with Green Guerillas. Originally from Jamaica, she found comfort in farming and community as she adapted to a new culture.

Helen Hernandez
Operations Coordinator
Helen has a long history with Administration work in food advocacy. Her career started in 2013, when she was part of a youth internship program focused around food justice in East New York.

Derrick Whitehorn
Community Engagement Coordinator
Derrick is a Garden Apprentice, Youth Mentor, and a former member in the Youth Empowerment Pipeline. His love for gardening sprouted during his sophomore year of high school while working with the Wyckoff Farmhouse Museum.

Rissa Lachica
Youth Program Coordinator
Rissa is a dedicated advocate for community empowerment and sustainable urban gardening, committed to fostering green spaces and advancing food justice. As a recipient of the Brooklyn Urban Gardener Certificate, awarded by Brooklyn Botanic Garden, they developed expertise in urban gardening and community greening, equipping them to support community-led initiatives throughout Brooklyn.

Avika Talmor
Community Gardens Organizer
Avika (she/her) is a Brooklyn born facilitator, organizer, somatic coach, and multi-hyphenate artist. Committed to environmental, climate, and food justice, she works across both US coasts and internationally. From facilitating youth workshops at the YWCA on bystander intervention and women empowerment to organizing against gentrification and for tenant rights in Prospect and Crown Heights, she is dedicated to deepening relationships with community members.

Linsu Ding, born in China, has been passionate about public health, nutrition, and exercise. Driven by a commitment to improving community health and well-being, she has actively contributed to initiatives that promote healthy living through health education.

Perla Acevedo is a student at The City College of New York, pursuing a bachelor's degree in Childhood Education. I am passionate about working with children and youth and actively participating in nonprofit organizations that give back to BIPOC and low-income communities.
