Derrick Whitehorn

Community Engagement Coordinator

Derrick is a Garden Apprentice and Youth Mentor, who began his journey in the Youth Empowerment Pipeline. His passion for gardening took root during his sophomore year in high school while he was involved with the Wyckoff Farm House Museum. Through the Youth Empowerment Pipeline, Derrick gained a deeper understanding of food justice and food insecurity.

Currently, Derrick serves as the Community Engagement Coordinator, where he oversees the Seed & Tool Library and coordinates community garden activities. Throughout his time at Green Guerillas, Derrick has honed his skills and developed his leadership abilities. He is deeply grateful for the opportunities to grow within the Green Guerillas community and is dedicated to finding innovative ways to engage and inspire young individuals to participate in our youth leadership and development programs.
