Rissa is a dedicated advocate for community empowerment and sustainable urban gardening, committed to fostering green spaces and advancing food justice. As a recipient of the Brooklyn Urban Gardener Certificate, awarded by Brooklyn Botanic Garden, they developed expertise in urban gardening and community greening, equipping them to support community-led initiatives throughout Brooklyn.
Their journey includes impactful work with East New York Farms, where they supported youth farming programs and contributed to farm operations. Through their role with Repair the World, Rissa led youth programs focused on food justice and community engagement, empowering young people to advocate for equitable food systems.
Rissa has also facilitated numerous workshops for community gardens, inspiring residents to adopt sustainable practices and strengthen their communities. Their work exemplifies a deep commitment to education, environmental stewardship, and building stronger, greener neighborhoods.
